UbuntuでDVDを動画再生する

前回では、Ubuntuで音楽（iTunes）が使えるか、という観点でした。今回は、動画（DVD）が使えるか、です。
DVDメ ディア（Windows上のDVD DecripterでRippingしたもの）を 挿してみます。CDメディア同様、何で起動するか聞いてきたので、Videosを選択します。無事、コンテンツが見え、動画再生ができました。VLC Media Playerでも稼動確認し、問題なく動作することが確認できました。
ここまでは問題なし。

念のため、Region2のDVDメディア（市販のもの）も試してみます。すると、Videos、VLC Media Player双方でNGでした。Region1も試してみた結果は以下の通り。

DVD自身のリージョンコードは2だったはずなので、OS側の設定が必要そうです。

上記に従って作業してみます。VLCは入っているので、libdvdcssをダウンロード後、インストール。 続いて、指示通りにlibdvdread4とlibdvdnav4もインストールします。


結果。

というメッセージで、結果的にはlibdvdread4とlibdvdnav4のインストールは不要のようでした。

何故かDVD Playerのリージョンが1になっていたことが判明。何故だ。
